Do I pay membership dues and CPHR fees when I am on leave?
A pro-rated fee for membership and CPHR dues is available to those who are on maternity leave, parental leave or disability leave for a minimum period of 6 months. These individuals would remain members of HRANB and would benefit from member pricing, email messages, etc.
How do I pay my bill?
HRANB offers on-line payments using AMEX, MasterCard or VISA. If you prefer to pay by credit card over the phone, contact us at 506.855.4466. Payment can also be made by cheque sent to the address at the bottom of this page. Please indicate your invoice number or name on the cheque.
I am not sure whether or not I paid my invoice this year. How can I check?
Our members only section will allow you to input your username and password to check when you last paid your bill for membership and CPHR (if applicable).
I just received my invoice and noticed I have charges for both CPHR and membership. Can I just pay for my CPHR or do both fees have to be paid?
In order to maintain your CPHR, you must first be a member of HRANB. As a result, you must pay the total amount due and not just a portion of the invoice.
Why do you request personal information such as my home address? What do you do with this information?
Many times we’ve had members who change positions or employers and forget to let us know. When a member has a CPHR, this could mean that they lose their CPHR because they don’t receive an invoice and pay their invoice in time. Once a CPHR is lost, you cannot get it back without meeting all of the requirements. If we have your home information, it is more likely that we can get in touch with you if a problem such as this arises.
Your home information is kept in a different section of the member database and will not appear in our membership directory unless you request it. It will, however, be within the password protected area of our online database so that you can keep all your information up to date and accurate.
If I cancel my membership to HRANB, are the membership dues refundable?
HRANB membership dues are non refundable in the event of a move (from one province to another or country), a change in position or any other circumstances.
Can I ask someone who has already passed the exam for information?
No. Writers sign a confidentiality agreement before writing the exam. However, CPHR Canada has a dedicated website at www.chrp.ca with information regarding the CPHR designation and exams.
Do I pay HST on my CPHR fees?
Yes. We charge HST on all fees.
How can I prepare for the National Knowledge Exam?
There are multiple options that you can use to prepare for the National Knowledge Exam CPHR exam. It is recommended that you use more than one option.
Many students use their HR textbooks to study. Others take courses. Some form study groups. Others find the provincial preparatory sessions or the online course and the study guide as effective ways to prepare.
How soon after the exam are the results available?
Six to eight weeks after the exam, you will receive an email notification to inform you that the results have been posted to the member services area of the HRANB website.
If I decide not to write the exam after I've registered, what happens?
The fee is non-refundable if you cancel your registration less than 60 days before the exam is held. Deferrals less than 30 days prior to the exam date will incur a fee of $100 + applicable tax.
Deferrals 7 calendar days prior to the exam are considered to be no-shows and the full exam fee will be forfeited unless there is verified proof of extenuating circumstances such as death in the immediate family.
Registrants who defer to a future sitting and then cancel their registration any time prior to this sitting will forfeit their initial exam fee plus any deferral fee paid.
If I fail the exam, do I have to pay to write it again?
Yes. Beginning with the November 2014 NKE administration, candidates who fail the NKE three times will be required to wait a full year before attempting the NKE for a final and fourth time. All candidates must meet all of the requirements 7 years of successfully passing the National Knowledge Exam. The set exam fee will be charged for each attempt at writing either exam.
Is there any fee to recertify?
There is no fee to recertify.
What happens if my CPHR renewal is due when I am on maternity leave?
The time on maternity leave is simply added to the 3-year period, thus making it 3 years plus the period of maternity leave up to one year. To ensure that your CPHR designation is not revoked, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements ahead of time.
What is the HRID and the National CPHR Number that are requested upon registering for either the National Knowledge Exam or the National Professional Practice Assessment?
The HRID is your HRANB membership number. If you do not know your membership number, it can be found on your HRANB membership card or within your profile in the member services area of the website. You can also contact us and we will provide this information to you.
The National CPHR Number is the registration number that was provided to you by HRANB when you wrote the NKE. If you do not have this information, you can contact us as we have this information on file.

Simply log-in to the member services area of the website. Once logged-in, click on ‘Resources’ then on ‘Past Receipts’.
How can I access a list of HRANB events that I have attended?
Remember to always enter your username/HRID and password when registering to HRANB events. This will ensure that the event is tracked within the event log.
